The Commitments 30 years on
It is exactly 30 years ago that this music film premiered (13 September 1991). The film was a great success. This is partly evidenced by the four BAFTA awards that were given to the film for best film, best direction, best adapted film script and best video editing. But the music from the film was also a success. The soundtrack was winner of the BRIT award. An important English music prize which was also won in the previous century by, for example, The Beatles, Cliff Richard and Queen. More than 14 million copies of the soundtrack have been sold. Everyone knows the soul classics from this film such as Mustang Sally, Chain of Fools, Hard to Handle, Land of a 1,000 Dances

Soulmania
With Soulmania we already play a lot of The Commitments' repertoire (besides all the other wonderful soul music). So it seemed like a good plan to give extra attention to the film and its music in the anniversary year (Sep '21 - Sep '22) by including all the music from the albums in our show.

30 Years Anniversary Tour
During this special tour we have sought cooperation with locations where we can show the film (with Dutch subtitles) to all visitors. After the screening of the film, we will give a live concert with all the music from the film. So the whole event is in the context of the anniversary. Even when you enter the cinema we already have a surprise for you.

The premiere of this show was on 12 September 2021 in the Pathé Expo Theatre in Ede. One of the highlights was the sold-out show at the Gala/Final Night of the 10-day Film-by-the-Sea festival (Sep. 2022).
